Francis He

Francis Lyudi He is a student at Hong Kong International School (HKIS). He is a multi-year recipient of the James A. Handrich Service Leadership Endowment Fund and the youngest to receive the award in HKIS history. His initiative, Project Visible Homeless, explores homelessness through food donation, digital games, fundraising sales, public speaking, and creative writing.

Last year, Francis authored Visible Homeless, a popular children’s picture book teaching empathy against the background of the homeless community. The book has been placed in more than 500 school libraries worldwide and is available at all major bookstores in Hong Kong. In March 2026, Francis was invited to speak at the United Nations Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Weeks in Geneva, Switzerland, where he presented on youth-led innovation and the use of AI in crisis response.

Beyond his service work, Francis is a member of the Hong Kong Junior Water Polo Team, competing in tournaments representing Hong Kong. He served on the Student Council, the Student Digital Leadership Team, and as a Cello Section Leader in Classical Strings, the highest-level orchestra at HKIS Middle School. He is also a drama performer, an award-winning chess player, and played on the Tai Tam Tigers tier one soccer team for three years.
